shield training and daggers

Do I only get the trained defensive bonus from daggers, if my character learned shield training? Or is it sufficient to have the dagger trained?

I assume you are referring to the DB bonus for Sai and Main Gauche.  Those DB Bonuses are only gained with Shield Training talent.
