Title: Spreadsheet or database of all RM spells?
Post by: Agrikk on June 08, 2022, 12:02:43 AM

I am looking for a complete list of all Rolemaster spells, including attributes and descriptions, from Spell Law and all of the Companions. I'll take it in excel, CSV or SQL format.

I know there is https://www.ekkaia.org/rpg/rm/spells.pdf (https://www.ekkaia.org/rpg/rm/spells.pdf) but I'm not sure it is complete and doesn't have spell descriptions. Similarly http://roleplayingdb.internethill.com/rmSpellsDB.aspx (http://roleplayingdb.internethill.com/rmSpellsDB.aspx) looks interesting but I'm not sure if it's complete and it's missing spell descriptions. There is also this blog post (https://www.rolemasterblog.com/master-spell-list-reference/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=master-spell-list-reference) but it doesn't look complete and downling a stack if individual files isn't fun.

Any ideas on where I might get a list?

I'm not 100% sure but it seems to me that such a list would cause some copyright issues. I think the lists without the description are about as far as you can go without violating copyright.

The internethill site seems weird in that I can tell it's not from RM2. (There's no Magent or Dabbler profession in RM2.) The blog post also seems off, either as being from a later version of RM or a customized project (Santa's Ways?).

Thanks for the help y'all.

I think it's going to require quite a bit of legwork to get these spells assembled, but in the end I think it'll be worth it.

I'm trying to do something like what I did for my little herbs database:https://www.northbrilend.org/herbs/index.php (https://www.northbrilend.org/herbs/index.php)

I'm looking at the shadow world herbs tab of that spreadsheet and there's a column with the format of
Code: [Select]
Agaath fM30NW berry chew

Is there a legend somewhere for what fM30NW means? Where was this herb list pulled from?

Those codes are right from Rolemaster and SW, you should be able to find them in any of the books with an herb chart-the codes are right above the herb lists and usually in a boxed in format. I included them for reference.

I've made a start on my online database of spells here: https://www.northbrilend.org/spells/ (https://www.northbrilend.org/spells/)

It currently has spells currently collected from:
- Rolemaster 2e Spell Law (ICE 1200)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion I (ICE 1500)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion II (ICE 1600)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion III (ICE 1700)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion IV (ICE 1800)

and currently contains 6456 individual spells from 333 lists.

I am currently working on RMC5 which contains 1100 spells and let me tell you: this task is daunting. I tell myself that I'll do 1-2 lists a day and eventually I'll be done whenever it gets done.

Would anyone be interested in helping in this project?  Maybe I can set up a google doc of all the remaining lists to be done and people can sign up to do a couple.  I'd be happy to share the (rudimentary) format I'm using so the resulting .csv is easy to import into the database.

That is a great resource! Thanks for posting and organizing it.

I am not able to contribute at this time, but just wanted to send some encouragement.

Added the 1100 spells from Rolemaster Companion 5, bringing the total number of spells in the database to 7545.

spells currently collected from:
- Rolemaster 2e Spell Law (ICE 1200)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion I (ICE 1500)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion II (ICE 1600)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion III (ICE 1700)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion IV (ICE 1800)
- Rolemaster 2e Companion V (ICE 1900)

I'll be working on RMC6 next, I think.

There should be a https://donjon.bin.sh/  for RM2 and other RM editions

Are you saying that it would be nice if donjon had the spells lists for RM2? Or are you saying that donjon has lists of spells for RM2 and I can find them there?

Because I had a look at the donjon site map and didn't see spells lists for rolemaster anywhere.

Yes it would. After all the hours I've spent (and still will spend) on this spells database project, I can only wish that someone else had done it already. :D
