I thought this might bring back some memories for some of us and inspire others.

Yeah its a dnd piece but applies equally to any system IMO.
For example, RoleMaster (before suffixes existed) had very few skills.
Gatekeeper to the Under-Dark: "Why are you seeking passage?"
Kal-El pauses in thought (briefly contemplating how to manage the Never Lie and Always Deceive curses on him), "I came to conquer all know-able universes".
Gatekeeper: You may pass.
Gatekeeper: Who are you?
Kal El: A tourist

That is exactly the document I had several of my current players read so they could understand what I am looking for in my AD&D game.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Scratch that. Power attracts the corruptible.

Rules should not replace the brain and thinking.

Very good read and in most RM games I have played have been the ZeroE way.

Bacon Law: A book so good all PC's need to be recreated.
Rule #0: A GM has the right to change any rule in a book to fit their game.
Role Play not Roll Play.
Use a System to tell the story do not let the system play you.
