How would you treat an starships Escort sized PDF's when the starship is on the ground? Would you allow an attack on every target as an Anti Infantry System? Or do something else?

Well, I would imagine that at the tech-level needed to get from one star system to another, defense systems could be geared to even deal with minor space debris - certainly infantry and their weapons (missiles/rockets). [Unless I am mistaken about PDF's - which made me think you were talking about an electronic document for a second.  ;D]
