Best Way of Mapping a star system?
« on: October 22, 2010, 11:14:05 AM »
I wanted to create a star map like the Freelancer Map.

This is for my SpaceMaster campaign I'm dreaming up.  So, I took a look at Winchell Chung's site (project RHO) and have looked at Cosmographer and AstroSynthesis 2.0.  My question is: what starmapping program do you recommend?

I would use photoshop to create a map like the one you have shown.

Elton;
 I do have Astrosynthsis 2.0 and it is great for generating lots of systems quickly. But In general right now I am interested in breaking some of the long held rules for system creation.
 I think that Astrosyth has a free 30 day trial and the other program might also. You might want to check for that and just see what they offer.

I've got Astrosynthsis 2.0 and I've been slowly building the map of the Verge from StarDrive using it (since it gives you 3D coordinates on that nice big poster map).

Astrosynthesis is the way to go, at least for myself. When I started it was Photoshop, but as I created the Imperial map, I moved over to Astro and CC2..er... I guess CC3 now. Been a while.
