Title: Question about glyphstones
Post by: thass on March 09, 2009, 11:12:08 AM
Does de glyphstones (from underground races) require a RR by the target?
Here are two examples of what a 3 and 6th level spells on that table act:
3) if critical, a limb becomes useless for d10 minutes
6) all criticals are determined on the subdual critical table

A 3th level sorcerer has a spell to make a limb useless, but it requires a BAR (well, we use a house rule from Etchelion that there is no BAR roll and we look at the result of 51)
But anywhere, it is more difficult to affect a 10th level character than a 1th level character.

But what about the glyphstone? the only requisite is to make a crit? so you cast the spell into the stone. The target doesn't have a RR?

Thanks in advance.

For the Numbstone - I would say that yes, it requires a RR. However, the range for it would be "touch" since the spell is on the stone. Thus, the caster has to hit the target, do a crit, and then the target has to fail a RR (but it is harder than if the spell were cast at a distance).

For the other spell, that changes the crit of the attack, so no RR is required (i.e. it affect the attack, not the target). That should be your guiding principle -- affects attack - no RR; affects target of atack - RR.
