Hi all,
I want to play Rolemaster 2 in the Forgotten Realms, a setting I really like.
But I question myself (and you :p) about the races.
The Rolemaster races are more Tolkiennish ones, and it is not the case for the Forgotten Realms races, who are more D&D races.
Do you know someone who play in the Forgotten Realms ? What races stats do you use and why ? I take all advices :)
PS : I play with the second edition of Forgotten Realms, just 4 years after the Avatar trilogy.

Peter R at www.rolemasterblog.com is running a FR campaign and blogging about it. Hes on this forum too.

I use Rolemaster for Forgotten realms right now.
I just use the RM races as Is. One could work the Elves Height to make them shorter, and that is about all the difference I really see between Tolkien and FR races. But I decided that the height issue wasn't really an issue for me. It doesn't really effect the Setting flavour.

Whenever running Rolemaster in the Forgotten Realms setting, I just use the FR maps, deities, political and religious structures, etc. Then I use the straight from the book RM races, creatures, professions, spells, magic items, etc.
This can cause a little adjustment for the players who are used to the drow and all their overpowered silliness. The RM Companion I has stats for dark elves or you can use the stats for Dyari from Shadow World. But usually, it works just fine. If I want to use a D&D specific monster for a little flavor, I just wing it.

It's a good advice, yep :)
Yesterday, I've seen in the RoCo 1 some good races for the Forgotten Realms.
The grey elves (who are less powerfull than the high and fair elves on the character book), and the half-elves D and E.
For the Gnomes, I've found the stats in the Creatures & Treasures 1, and I will give them 6 development points.
I think it can be good like this ^^

Hi,
I have been running the Forgotten Realms with RM2 and RMC without any problems. I use the races from RoCo1. Most of my players are long time RM2 players and MERP before that so they were expecting tolkienian elves so it wasn't a problem. RoCo1 gives you the Sea Elves and Dark Elf races.

Yes, for RMSS/FRP, but I use RM2, so the RMSS stats & packages aren't usefull for me ^^

I have converted loads of creatures from FR to RM2/RMC. It doesn't take long once you get into the swing of it.
The rules for conversions are in the back of the RM2 Creatures & Treasures and also in the vault. I use the vault version as the RMC CT did not have the conversion rules. http://www.ironcrown.com/ICEforums/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item672
