I guess this is mostly a question for Terry. But if any GM already played this part and wants to chime in, you're more than welcome.
Is there more than one Jinteni Portal Network?
From what can be seen in the map on page 82, there is a platform network portal line that points to the north-east portion of the Isle of Jade.
When I go to the Isle of Jade map on page 142, it seems that the point might be #6, which is mentioned in page 141 as a Jinteni ruin.
Ok, that all checks out.
But then, the same Isle of Jade map on page 142 also has point #4, which is mentioned in page 141 as "Jinteni Platform Portal. Long disused, it is partially covered in undergrowth, but undamaged."
So, if the map from Zaen shows 12 lines, and one points to point #6 on the Isle of Jade, and point #4 is another platform, I think this might mean that point #4 belongs to another platform network, much like another subway line.
This makes sense, but it also means that there are at least who knows how many other platforms that are part of this new network!
Or maybe it's just that the Platform Network map on page 82 is slightly off, and the line should be pointing more to the middle of the Isle of Jade.
What do you think? I have a session tomorrow and the players are in the Isle of Jade and they got their hands on a portal key sphere, so I might be needing to make a decision about this soon. :-\
There's definitely more than one network; the portal network map in Emer III has a completely different centre to the one in GA4. Although some portals would likely connect to two networks. The GA4 map has a portal in a slightly different place on the Isle of Jade. I would also expect there to be many other portals other than those listed; Xa-ar has the Jinteni mining the Saral March for piezocrystals, and I would expect portals to have been built there too.
