I was just trying to recompute the DP cost for Fair Elves... and maybe I am overlooking something, but all their bonuses, maluses, talents and flaws. seem to add up to a higher number than 50 (79, if I am not mistaken?) Yet,. the bonus DP for them are given as 0, instead of -29. Is that an error on my part, and erratum, or am I misreading the race creation rules?
-
Yes, some of the classic races in the core do exceed 50. There are no negative DP awards, so those races are overpowered based on the race creation formula. But then again, those races were always overpowered compared to the others, so nothing has really changed except acknowledging that reality.

I don’t think that’s right, all races should sum correctly. Let’s see…
Efficient sleeper II 10
Immune to disease I 10
Nightvision 10
Defensive aura II 12
Golden throat 5
Stats +4 16
Magic resistance. -18
Physical resistance. 12
Vigorous. 5
Slow healer. -10
Fragile -3
Stride. 0.5
Total 49.5
Seems okay to me, they even have a half point spare.
Ps. It helps to show your work with these kinds of questions.

All the races should add up correctly. 0.5 is just a rounding issue. None of the races should be off by more than that.

There's an inconsistency there between the fair elves in the text and in the races table (which is the whole reason why I started to recomepute this). The text gives them +0 Agility, the table sais +1.

Ah, I found my error. Thank you! My spreadsheet just ignored some of the negatives.

Thanks for the confirmation!

I see +0 Agility on Table 2-2a and also in the entry on page 25. If you're seeing a different bonus somewhere, check that you have the up-to-date version of Core (should say Modified Version: March 12, 2023 4:41 PM on the bottom of the credits page, page 2), and if so let me know where it is.

Apparently I had the older version. Thanks!
