My ERA cannot connect to the server http://10.0.0.28:7777/ERA
« on: January 15, 2019, 05:12:09 PM »
Getting a time out error in firefox and chrome for launching ERA RMFRP keeps timing out and will not connect. Have a new computer and trying to download directly from the RPG Website. Have not added anything yet due to Server is not connecting.

Got the mail. Not sure if you want to troubleshoot via forum or mail.
The error log you attached indicates that ERA was started with "ERA-Server.exe" instead of "ERA-RMFRP".
Which Windows version are you using? Any differences with the old computer? Could you try the same installation on another one?

The message in the error log you sent by mail indicates that the server can't start, so changing browsers would always give the same error.
Since it's a fresh installation, it might have something to do with the computer itself, so let's do a couple of tries:
  • Delete the error log, then start ERA-RMFRP.exe, then look for the error log and save it (rename it to something like "while trying RMFRP")
  • Delete the error log again, then start using ERA-Server.exe. Again save and rename the log generated
  • Do the same 2 steps but in another computer
  • If at all possible, do the same on your new computer, but using a previous version of ERA

Please send over all the different log files via mail, so that I can see if there's any hint about the reason for the issue.

Also... the tests should be done by installing to a directory as simple as possible (something like C:\ERA) so that we can rule out issues with Windows user folders.

Thanks for your patience, we'll do our best to get it working.

Found that it was a Firewall issue from wireless settings on Avast anti-Virus program. Had it on public setting protection. Once I went to private connection or turning off the firewall I was able to get right in. Thanks for the help. And now we know what that error meant.
