RM Survivalist Supplement
« on: January 08, 2008, 06:05:41 PM »
Did you ever play the FGU game Aftermath?

Great setting and background & not a bad system.

I'd always hoped that ICE would produce a Survivalist Supplement for RM, I think it would be a good seller.

So is there anyone out there would like to try and pen it themselves?

Alas, I'm too feckless & lazy to do it myself.

In the past I have used D&D material to suppliment this area or tried to find real world info. But any new info would be great.

Aftermath STILL makes me shudder.

I recall character generation taking forever.  There were like 60 hit locations.  My PC was shot with a .22 and the bullet didn't do a lot of damage (it was stopped by the cloth and leather and imbedded about an inch under the skin).  A few game weeks later, and my PC's intestines are beginning to leak out from what the radiated dust on the bullet is doing...I was dead in about a month, with no possible way to be saved.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

How about you put this idea under "Products I'd like to see for..." threads? Might garner more attention there, though we're probably small-knit enough your post won't be missed here.

I would love to see an "Apocolypse Law." Some charts on mutations, using different tech-level items, oh yeah, I like.

Yeah muties.

There's loads of source material for this subject. So I hope someone will give it a go. Hope to see it in print next year.

I'd fancy running a scenario for starters based on Mad Max II with some mutie bikers thrown in for good measure.

Hmm, I seem to recall kicking an idea like that around several years ago. Wonder if I still have the notes?  I think Rasyr and I even bounced a couple emails back and forth on it. I kind of moved on from doing it in Rolemaster to doing it for HARP, and right now there wouldn't be much chance of me working on it, but who knows what the future might hold.

Most definately a Gamma World thing. One of my all-time favorite games - 3rd edition (the one with the colored ACT Chart). Even back then I preferred games that had levels of success and failure.

Just the visuals I would get when a ruined city was described.... :o :o :o

Plus, who could resist Radiation Eyes?!?  :evil1:

A RM Gamma World style book would deffently be interesting and something I would personally be interested in.

Is not 'Shades of Darkness' something like that ? A post-apo world ?
Now there's a plan : we go there, we blast him, we come back...

Shades of Darkness is more like Ravenloft than Gammaworld.

I too an really interested in this kind of book, which allows you to run these kinds of scenarios. Who havent thought about running around in places akin to Fallout and similar places? :D

I think violence in games only causes violence in real life if the person in question has an insufficient mental capacity to deal with the real world in the first place. But, that's more the fault of poor genetics and poorer parenting than it is the fault of a videogame

Shades of Darkness has an apocolypse with demons and magic and suff. That is OK, but the only really good apocolypse is NUKE. It's a classic, and you don't mess with a classic.  :D

Should we start a design thread? Or would this be totally up to folks in ICE?
