Outside of singing the praises of Rob I had another question.  .  .

I figure that winning awards boosts your pride and prestige, but do winning awards help with sales or have other more tangible effects?  I am ignorant on such things as I have never followed gaming awards or become interested in a game (that I recall) because it won an award.  I guess my questions is really, what is the importance of gaming awards?

I think you can make a sign that says I won! So when you go to cons to advertise it is just another thing to draw people to your booth. But I do not know for sure.

I know one guy who had no effect, but he won for a non-rpg, so I think the word didn't really get out to his actual audience.  I'm much more likely to buy Accordlands now, though, since I know it's nominated.  Same with anything by the Dog company, since they've been nominated 4 years running.

I thought you'd buy anything by the dog company because of the dog;)

I thought they just stuck with scantily clad women.

Sounds like my wife  :)

What is the dog company by the way?  I must have missed something when I scanned the entries.

Ah yes.  I remember the books but didn't look closely at them as the Wild West genre is not one that I RPG in.

I would.  These quibbles aside, you still know that 5 picky people aggreed they were the best out of the ones submitted.  Every art award is subjective by nature.  You might not agree with what DIDN'T make it, but I'm rarely disappointed with the ones that did.
