How an ERA editor?
« on: December 05, 2018, 03:55:37 PM »
I would like to work with ERA so I can run the original Middle Earth from Iron Crown. An editor would make it a lot easier.

Hi rwglaub, thanks for your interest in ERA.

The current version requires most of the book content to be entered in XML format, or purchased in a closed format from RPGNow/DTRPG.
Sadly this means that content that is not owned by ICE (MERP, some old companions spell lists) can't be offered for sale, and can't be shared in XML format. You have to manually create the XML files for your own group in that case.

What you CAN do is request specific features/rules which are not in a "table" in the original books, and that we could put into future versions. As an example, users have requested features like specific high stat bonus, and that has been added.

Developing an editor would surely make entering custom content easier, but it would be a huge undertaking, similar if not even bigger than the current set of features. Since adding custom content can be done via XML files, in general the development of new inexistent features gets higher priority.
In any case, ERA is for the GMs and players out there, so any feature with enough requests could make it into the list of future work.

Make it so that IO can run the Middle Earth modules for Rolemaster.
