Minis for Sea Kral / Ice Kral
« on: March 22, 2014, 04:54:21 PM »
Well then. There are many ways to master a gaming session, but I can't help it: i love to use (collect, build, paint, ...)  minis.

Since I am currently working on a campaign in Quellbourne (Land of the silver mist), I am having a little difficulty finding a proper resemblance for Ice Kral (or Sea Kral).

They are described as monkey like, long armed fellows with greyish/blue skin. As there are thousands of miniatures out there, I wonder if there is a preferred fit.

My collection consists primarily of 25mm RAFM and Grenadier Models. So far, the best bet was on RAFM pack #3619 Orcs". The orcs in this pack have ape like mouths (right side). All other Orcs released by RAFM, for instance #3209 Orc Chieftain", are much shorter and have snouts with teeth (left side).

Would that work? Did anybody ever find a best match?

I always thought they come across more like hobgoblins, only with slight differences.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Scratch that. Power attracts the corruptible.

Rules should not replace the brain and thinking.

Hmm, I gave my (Hob)Goblins a closer look. At least the ones I have did not strike me as ape-like enough. The closeups show the minis.

(Top) "Grenadier #921 Goblin Champions" don't quite cut it.
(Middle) "RAFM #3211 Goblins Light Infantry" are basically thrown into the orc line up and could as well be orcs.
(Bottom) "Grenadier #9006 Hobgoblins" look like distorted humans

There is this nice page where somebody made the effort to compare Goblins from several different manufacturers.

Alltogether, I think we have to drop the Goblin idea.
