Item Resistance Rolls
« on: November 26, 2007, 08:33:05 PM »
Where in RMFRP can I find the rule that covers resistance rolls for spells cast on items being carried or worn?

Thanks

OK, looking it up I have found a few places for you to check out:

RMFRP (book 5800), pg. 205 / Section A-9.17.7
Arms Law (book 5801) pg.4 / Section 2
Character Law (book 5806) pg. 111 / Section 10.0

Hope that helps.

These rules are also covered in Treasure Companion.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

I don't see the case of normal or carried items, and there are some questions:

- If item is carried by anyone, what lvl do you use?, the character or the item one?.

- Is normal items lvl 1?.

- In any case, should we add some value to RRs for item 'resistance'?. For example, the spell 'destroy solid' including metal, you could add the material bonus to RR (+5 or +10 to steel, +15 or +20 to alloy, etc.). See that this modifier is usually used when the item is damaged, if not there is no reason to add the material resistance.

The last two I suppose that are correct (or is used mostly), but the first one is not clear.

1) IIRC: the higher between the item's level and the character level

2) I would say yes

3) That's a good idea, but I don't know if there is an official rule
I suppose a magician might, he admitted, but a gentleman never could.
