Parrying during Spell Prep rounds?
« on: September 30, 2007, 08:09:11 PM »
Probably a dumb question, but can you Parry (shunt OB into DB) during rounds where you're prepping a spell? I can see that prep is a 90% action, but there's no % value listed for Parry. I'd say you can't, but some players counter that you can always Parry, regardless of what else you're doing.

Thanks,

Chris

A parry implies that you are "attacking" that round, even a full parry is considered being in melee combat so that would be a 50%-100% action.  So the only way you could parry and do something else is if the 'something else' was a 50% or less action.

As Vroom said, Parrying is PART OF an attack, so when you parry, you are actually making an attack as well. It is a way of fighting more defensively overall.

If you are preparing a spell, you cannot be parrying an attack in the same round (unless you are hasted).

the only other bit is "Missile Parry" which is a flat 50% activity. (Still not possible without haste.)
