RM and fantasy miniature wargaming...
« on: May 02, 2009, 05:42:24 PM »
I was just wondering if ICE publishes a set of fantasy miniature rules for large scale battles that is compatible with RM?  If not is there a system out there that is compatible with RM?

Thanks,
Mike

A while back they put out a boxed set called War Law that dealt with mass combat. I don't think they had any miniatures so you had/have to use whatever you had.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Scratch that. Power attracts the corruptible.

Rules should not replace the brain and thinking.

I love War law. It was designed for RM2 but you can use it with RMSS/FRP with a little mod. If you find it on EBay it is a very good buy if it is less than $35.

I think on RPG Resources.com they have a War Law game going. You might want to check it out.

Yes we are, and the current battle is finally coming to an end. Unfortunatly it is a private thread due to playtesting new and improved rules. If you are interested in playtesteing or more info on the game PM the game creator Grinnen Baeritt.

I would second War Law (the old one).  We have had a lot of fun with that.

However, Warlaw is not a minatures game it's a hex and counter wargame.  And incidentally lets you put a battle field on a relatively small sheet of paper next to your game.

If I were to use war law with miniatures I'd want to do 15mm or even 10mm and have stands representing whole units.  Because a basic game unit is a hundred men and an advanced unit can be thousands.

Alternately you could find a copy of Legendary Battles by the Canadian Wargames Research Group, which is Warhammeresque and uses d10s.  It's also very fast, simple and well balanced.

Found a copy on ebay for $33.00 shipping included!  Looks like it could be adapted to tabletop gaming fairly easily.
