Title: Passing a few more ideas
Post by: Elton Robb on June 04, 2008, 10:14:05 AM
As you know, the lastest posts I've had has something to do with rules questions considering the Adventure I'm writing.  Although my adventure takes place in my own hometown, I had to do some Anachronistic things to make the setting work in Rolemaster (Early Renaissance setting -- i.e. Early 15th Century; Spell Magic, White Men and European Culture in the Salt Lake Valley in the early 15th Century [before Columbus] and other stuff).

Some thoughts I can pass:

* I think I can finally stat the harrowed for the adventure.  That's the undead race.

* I can explain how monks are in the setting.

* I thought about listing what weapons are available in the starter area: broadsword, rapier, that sort of thing.  Also the longbow.

* Listing adventures by town should be fun enough.

* Norek: Intrigue in a City State in Jaiman has been a valuable model.  I still have that book, and it is still in the same condition that I bought it over ten years ago: Near Mint. :D

To make this more Rolemaster related:

I have a question about the Combat Companion.  I must admit that the Martial Arts Companion still serves me well. But I'd like to flesh out what the Monks are teaching: the 5 animal styles of Kung-Fu [They are Shaolin Monks].  Is it best to stay within the Core Rules of RMC/RMFRP (RMSS) or branch out?  If the latter, would purchasing the the Combat Companion be a good idea?

IMHO yes, it would be a very good idea.  ;D
I really like how styles are handled in CC, I think it does a better job than the MAC (which is still a very good book!)

Are you really passing ideas, or did you have beans for lunch?  :Joker2:

I find that amusing, sort of.

IMO I think that the Combat Comp can help in your game, I do not think that it will help you with the Shaolin animal style martial arts though. It also has some different ideas about armor and weapons that may help your game depending on your players.
