John Shirley's "A Song Called Youth" trilogy, really good series for running a Cyberspace campaign due to its action and events (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eclipse_Trilogy).
Bruce Sterling's Schismatrix and related short stories, in the Shaper/Mechanist universe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaper/Mechanist_universe). Again, excellent material for campaigns, although you'd probably want to mix Dark Space biotech heavily into his one as well and boost the general tech level.
Rudy Rucker's 'ware tetraology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ware_Tetralogy). The guy's a mind-bender I swear. Often light-hearted (it has a car called the Turbo Pascal) and spans a few generations. Has a good grasp of the evolution of computing capacity.
PS: Nice thread, have an idea point.
