Standard Starship parts
« on: January 26, 2011, 11:29:52 PM »
Has anyone made a list of what they consider standard starship parts? Such as a list of the various types of power plants that are available off the shelf? So to speak.
This is so every ship does not have a unique power plant or other equipment but may use 2 or three standard pieces of pre-designed equipment for their starship or other craft. It also will cut down on the cost and design time for starship's.

Thanks

Most "freighters" would use an externalized framework upon which standardized modules would be attached. However, this approach typically cannot impart the sort of torque, shere forces and other mechanical stresses that ship to ship combat (or atmospheric entry) would impose.

For Combat vessels, everything must be Bespoke and carefully integrated ...
