Title: Military Jargon for SM campaigns
Post by: dutch206 on September 20, 2007, 10:10:24 AM
Thought you might like to know that Wikipedia has a 19 page article detailing every known instance of U.S. Army slang expressions since World War One:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._Army_acronyms_and_expressions

This should come in handy for Spacemaster campaigns.  Some of these expressions are quite colorful, so don't follow the link if you are easily offended.

Interesting. I've seen HAHO and HALO before, but never HANO (High Altitude No Opening parachute jump). Is that an actual jump? Or more of a FUBAR jump?

The 'Slang initialisms and acronyms' section is hillarious!  :D
Thanks for sharing Dutch, that made my day.

Although a late entrant on an old posting, here is the British miltary slang equivilant (again not for the overly sensitive or politically correct) :

Here are my favorites http://unconventional-airsoft.com/2003/01/15/hand-signals-defined/ (http://unconventional-airsoft.com/2003/01/15/hand-signals-defined/) and what most people mean when they use hand sings. I suppose this isn?t jargon but its funny.
