I have shady memories from that setting. Do we see those books in near future?

Dark Space was one of the books the New ICE was trying to get back into PDF and print (and still are) but as of this time there has been no new info from ICE about it. So I would say no as of right now, but that may change in the future.

The biggest stumbling block would be to get permission from Monte Cook. At least I think it was Monte Cook who wrote it.
Then would come the negotiations.

It was Monte Cook who wrote it. I think that setting is excellent from it basics...maybe add some additional information to extend time line further...with some hard tech :)

I loved DarkSpace! I had a tough time finding the book though... I eventually bought a hard copy on Amazon or Ebay.

I bought two days ago my copy from Amazon (used, in good condition) and I am waiting it to arrive. I need to do some conversion to be able to use that book with SM:P

I downloaded a copy of this in PDF format as the hardcopy that I bought all those years ago (back when first published) decided to fall apart at the spine less than 6 months later. ("Perfect bound" books will do that if the glue holding their spines together decides to crack, I've noticed).

I do not think that Dark Space was legally offered as a PDF. Was if?

No. The product was never released as a legal PDF. Any sites sharing it are breaking copyright law. Also, since Monte released his concepts in a book for another system after leaving ICE it would be nearly impossible to recover the rights to re-release the original. The product is effectively dead at this time and not being pursued for recovery.
It is too bad since we enjoy the product also, but we're now looking to move forward.

The original book (Well ... what's left of it after a couple of years of being used after it fell apart) is being kept in a ziploc bag at a friend's place. It's sad that we can't obtain a PDF through more legitimate means, I would have done so like a shot.

Can I enquire what the other book/system was so I can look into stealing from that in the absence of Dark Space, please?

It's not a direct conversion, but enough of it is used to prevent a recovery back to Rolemaster. It was released under the title Chaositech.

I have a couple copies of this book, in various stages of togetherness. If you look around, there are copies out there. I suspect that they are from fans who have held on a long time. I personally do not pass up picking up another copy when I see them and have the means....
