Looking at the nice, big Belynar map, I began to wonder.. according to the scale printed on the map, showing 2000 cubits, it seems that the buildings and roads in Belynar are extremely big (several hundred feet from one end to the other, in many cases). Is this the case.. or is the Belynar map just conceptual, and not an actual true-to-scale representation of precisely what's there?

From what the map seems to say:

Central Court = 1/2 mile across
The smaller houses = 150 - 300 feet
Tiniest roads = 100 - 150 feet wide

Not sure what I want the answer to be.. if everything  is indeed of such a grand scale, then it does seem easier to fit all those refugees in, of course :P

Yes, the scale is very large and very grand. Remember, according to the history, this site was selected and chosen to be the seat of Cyrad power.

Yes. My thought also...
However, what does a cubit equal to (english and metric)?
A military solution isn't the only answer, just one of the better ones.

Historically, the length of a cubit varied, but we decided to go with a median measurment.

cubit = approximately 18 inches in length (0.4572 meters per cubit).

And please remember, it has been over 500 years, and so only the largest and most sound buildings would have survived. There are tons of smaller ruins that would not have.

Ok, cool :) It is only recently that I noticed the scale at all, so I'll have to adjust my mental images a bit ;)

Yes, it is a huge city and all of the refugees (starting out, at least) are confined to the main plateau, until other portions of the city can be cleared.

and the city probably its not big enough to have all those half a milion abitants that are suggested in the core module..  ;D unless they lived like ants all underground

Belnos contains a lot of interior tunnels. There is actually a lot more of the city within the mountain than on it.

I suppose a magician might, he admitted, but a gentleman never could.
