Okay, this may be a long shot but here is the thing:
I recently read through "At Rapier's Point" again and came across the honorable villain, who for example lets the characters pass as it is the honorable thing to do.
I vaguely remember a Three Musketeers (or similar Swashbuckler) movie in which the hero(es) storm the castle/palace and then the protagonist actually come face to face with the captain of the guard who then greets him with his rapier and lets him pass without a fight to face the greater evil. I cannot, however, remember which film that was. It seems to me that it might have been a Musketeers film but I have been through all of them since 1921, I think, an cannot not find this scene anywhere.
Have you got any clue which film it might be?
