Map Project
« on: August 01, 2011, 02:25:03 PM »
Afternoon.

Over the years I have read about people making maps, wanting maps, needing maps and in general desiring High Quality Maps.

Is that in the works? While I surf around I see work being done on Map forums and other places, but is there going to be anything with detail and roads and locations etc?

Perhaps a Shadow World Player’s Guide - Maps?

I would throw some coin into that, even make my Players throw down.

Thanks.
Elrik

I think there are some regional maps in the works for regional Player supplements. Not totally sure on this though, and I don't think there's an actual map supplement planned - as yet.

EDIT: Found a topic regarding a map for the Jaiman Players Guide:

Thanks egdcltd.

I remember that Post. I have found Vroomfogle posts across several sites. He has done some impressive Map work but that was a while ago. I would conclude that he has the Jaiman map to a satisfactory level and is detailing it fully. Or not. Life gets busy.

If need be I will take one of Vroomfogle Jaiman maps and vector it, but I don't want to step on his toes. His work, his right, Terry's dream... bla bla bla copyright. I have seen my work get snatched up by enough people, I try to not do it to others.

My hope is to print off a large fully coloured and fully detailed map so I can put a protective layer on it and mark on it for my parties. My online games are fine so I don't need a detailed Map.

Thanks again.

Howdy,

Things have indeed gotten busy.   I had done more work on the Jaiman map and hope to fit it in some future book.   We would love to include more high quality maps in future Shadow World books.    I've liked the idea of having a "Players Map Guide", which would include a variety of maps, in different styles, with some even being wrong in minor or even major ways, but it's a matter of getting enough high quality maps.

Hey Vroomfogle

Yea, I would be all over a Map book like a Terry over an Apple.  ;D

The Map quality is not universal to you guys... not that I want to pass blame by any means... most of my systems have maps to the quality of the book they are printed in. And once you get a PDF they have been rasterized and then shrunk via an automated process... that is one think I like about Terry's pdf's they are still in layers.

Have you thought about an old World Style Map? Might be a fair bit of work. That would certain explain the weird shape of things or missing things or just things never explored but drawn anyways.

Thanks for taking the time to post Gentlemen.

What sort of maps would you put in a map book? Just continents and regions, or towns, cities etc as well? And of what sort of quality?

I would vote would be as high as they can manage! Of course that is Relative to the system you are using to make the map.

I actually started doing something with that. I keep coming back to it every so often. The original is a psd, layered and much bigger.

Thanks!

Incidentally, I found that the following numbers didn't seem to appear on the map anywhere:

174, 194, 209, 223, 224, 225, 245

Incidentally, I found that the following numbers didn't seem to appear on the map anywhere:

174, 194, 209, 223, 224, 225, 245

They are all there (at least in a way), you have to search a little more. 174 is in this map http://jaimanlethys.balefire.se/lethys-map/l9, the house in the middle of the page.

194 is actually missing in the big map, but you can track it from http://jaimanlethys.balefire.se/buildings/194 and look at http://jaimanlethys.balefire.se/lethys-map/l13 and it has to be close to 193 to the left of that. And so on...

When I know that all numbers are not there I should ofcourse correct it. Lets see if I have some time doing that...

It looks like I have a slightly different map version to the one on the site. I'll check my missing numbers against the newer version.
