Title: What is a skill? (Specialties)

If you have a knack in melee weapons, does it apply to the whole skill, or only one specialty?

It looks like Prodigy and Inept apply to all specializations. Is knack the same?

You get a knack in the skill, not the specialisation.  So you get +1 in all Melee weapons.   It's good value for your Knack points.

This applies to Melee weapons, as well as rituals (1 knack for all ritual types), Influence, and others.

The No Profession can pick up a Knack in Administration, Service & Trade skills.
