Old school Rolemaster and low level spell aqusition
« on: July 20, 2009, 08:51:02 PM »
Back in the day when I first started playing Rolemaster I seem to recall that spell users could not learn spell lists during Adolescent or Apprenticeship development.

Now as I'm reading RMC CharLaw I see right in the character creation example the spell user going for spell lists in the Adolescent & Apprenticeship levels.

Was this an actual rule back then, or was this some sort of house rule my friends and I made up?

Presumptively, at zero level, spell casting any spell would be overcasting, so learning would have to be book learning or dangerous. . . .but there's no restriction in the rules I know of.

That does sound familiar... and then it relaxed a bit.. Or at least our games did. :)
