+N Weapons
« on: April 12, 2008, 09:13:29 AM »
If I had a bonus weapon like a Sai which was a +10, and also had the skill Dual Sai. Do I also get the +10 in Dual Sai, or is this only for the weapon? One would think the Dual Sai would get the +10 since it's the weapon I'm using, but this is why I ask. :)

Thanks!

Bonus applies only to weapon. So Dual Sai OB +10(sai+10)= Total OB.
You add the weapon bonus to the style bonus.

Someone correct me please if I am wrong.

However, I am not sure how this would work if only 1 sai had the bonus...

OK...
Then Dual Sai bonus + Item Bonus = Total OB
But, IIRC, dual weapons allow only one attack roll. So, using 2 +10 sais with dual weapon still only grants a net +10... not +20(+10 per sai) to OB.

I agree with above. If they were used as a duplicate bonus you could end up with  2 Sai +25 weapons and an OB bonus of +50.

A white alloy master work sai, for instance, would be +25 and 30x the base cost of 13sp. So for 78gp a player could buy 2 white alloy master work sais for a bonus of +50 to OB. To me, this would be to easy for a low level character to achieve.

Also, if the weapons have different bonuses, I'd add the bonuses togther, divide them by 2 and round it down. (So +15, Sai +10 Sai = 25. 25 divide by 2 rounded down = 12. OB bonus is +12 from weapons.)

The Dual Sai style is a variant of the Dual Weapon Kata style. This means that when using the style, you only get to make 1 attack.

That being the case, then you would only get half of the bonus applied to any attacks. (i.e. 1 +10 Sai gives +5 to the style, 2 +10 Sai give +10 to the style). The big benefit from the Dual Sai style is the +30 to DB when using the style -- the +10 is NOT applied to this bonus to DB.

Okay! Thanks!

Whoa... I forgot about the +30 to DB. That with Chi Defense and a possible parry makes for quite the nice style.  :o
