Psychic powers
« on: August 10, 2013, 05:54:19 AM »
Has anyone ever designed any new psychic powers? I'm running a space opera style game and would love to get some new powers to surprise my players as well as give options for new characters.

fllnch,
I have only expanded on Bio Regulation, in that a Psi Healer can use it to understand just what needs to be healed in a target as well as at high ranks with other Psi skills being able to repair the users body to prevent aging.

Have you thought of deriving inspiration from the various psionic products of The-Game-That-Dare-Not-Dance-The-Macarena?

There is also a group of articles on the GuildCompanion.com that deal with PSI powers in a list type format.

Thankee; they cover familiar ground, being focussed towards Rolemaster rather than Spacemaster. Which reminds me: the earliest editions of Spacemaster used the same basic idea of list-based psionics, though using metres etcetera for their units of measurement, rather than the imperial measurements.

I really like the use of magnitude in Spacemaster. In my current game we're using the Psychic skills as super powers. The players are semi-pscyhic templates and have one primary and one secondary 'power'.  It makes things feel fresh, especially after years of spell lists. I have successfully adapted some spell lists into powers. I've made a set of Meta-morph powers and a probability set but it's a lot of effort trying to get them balanced.

Nice, maybe you could write it up and submit it to the Guild Companion as an article so the rest of us can see what you have done?
