got a few questions, any help would be great.
« on: November 19, 2011, 06:41:31 PM »
First off, I can't find a ruling on how to deliver an attack touch spell such as the Touch of Disruption sorcerer base list spell. Does the spell just go off without a roll to touch the target as long as your in touch range? Do you make a martial arts strikes attack in combination with the spell attack, maybe directed spells?

Second, I got the PDF of Arcane companion. The demonologist training package has a typo, * May develop one of either Entity Summons or W as a TP spell list as long as the character does not develop another lifestyle training package.

What is the other spell list labelled as "W"?

Third, Training Package Spell List rank acquired through a training package such as the revised amatuer mage TP, can you allocate those ranks to base, open or closed lists or do they have to be used on TP Lists?

Thanks for the help.

#3 is the easiest, If it says Spell List TP then you have to spend them on a TP spell list. If it says Spell List then it can be spent on anything.

#2 Here is the link to the errata for the Arcane Comp: http://www.ironcrown.com/ICEforums/index.php?topic=10725.0
But your question is not answered so, what other TP's are there in the book that start with W? IMHO it should be one of those.

#1 I do not remember the official ruling but some GM's do it different and look at a hand to hand attack either martial art or boxing etc and if the result on any line of the attack table reads zero or greater then the touch attack is successful.
I have never heard about letting someone develop "touch" as a directed spell type and I do not think I would as you can use Spell Mastery skill to do that.

IMHO the touch bit of a spell casting is handled by the spell casting roll. Remember to add the range touch bonus! and the roll just indicates whether it succeeds and what degree (i.e. the RR modifier). More armor usually means less chance to get more successful.
Also I think Markc's argument is valid. There is no touch based skill or a directed spell: touch or martial arts: tag skill variations, so it must be incorporated already in the spell casting itself.

The RMC rule is:

Medium SM + Spell Mastery with that spell/list + AG bonus - Foes DB. success = touch

or

Unnarmed attack of any sort, that gets at least "hits" of damage = touch

Though in RMSS logic that would be AG bonus x 3 in the first one.

I think W is for the Wounding spell list in Spell Law.

The W for Demonologist was supposed to be Dark Contacts. I'm pretty sure about this, but can't find where I read it! Maybe RM Rulings...

Here it is.
