i was reading my harp book when i finally arrived to the only part i didn't read often.. EQUIPMENT ::)
with all my dictionaries, online translator and a lot of fantasy i still have to understand what are these 2 items:
CALTROPS
PITONS
the only thing i know its that are made of iron ;D
can someone please enlight me?

Caltrops are little multipronged thingies, like jacks (jax?), that when scattered on the ground make it difficult to walk without impaling your feet.
Pitons are spikes, nailed into hard surfaces, to provide hand-holds and rope ties when climing.
At least that's the way I understood them. :D

thx goblyn!! now i remember.. probably the word caltrops were present in some magic the gathering card.. like "mishra caltrops" ;D
btwm are those 3 / 4 point nails used in action movies to block cars destroying tires? ;D

Yeah, I think that's basically the same deal. The ones for feet are usually a bit smaller though.

Hi lorenen, I'm Italian like you ... the translation for CALTROPS is 'triboli', the descriprion was already given above.
PITON is 'chiodo da roccia' ... a big nail used for climbing on rocks.
