Title: 3 Most Commonly Used Skills
Post by: Thom @ ICE on March 29, 2008, 07:26:21 AM
For a project I am working on I need to highlight the 3 most commonly used skills

This can not include - Weapon Skills, Endurance, Psi Energy Development, Power Point Development, or the Resistance skills...

My thoughts are: Perception / Stalk&Hide / Appraisal
What do you guys think?

Computer Operation, Computer Hacking, Machine Operation (scanners), Electronic Bypass and a vehicle skill of choice are heavily utilised in my game. Perception beats them all in the popularity stakes. Stalking & Hiding gets used by those who have some. Likewise Acrobatics, First Aid, Tracking, Demolitions, Signaling, Engineering: magnetogravitics. Appraisal has been used once - assessing the value of an interstellar frigate while posing in the El Dorado system as arms dealers for Khayyam.

Best wishes,
Nicholas

Perception is by far one of the most used and important skills, at least in my experience. My players usually max it out, or close to anyway, cause it?s a life saver.
Other than that I can agree with Stalk&Hide
For a third skill, I?m uncertain, it becomes hazy at this point.

Perception without a doubt, after that it it depends on the character.
Computer operations is important, not being able to operate a computer is a huge handicap.
Not all characters need Stalk & Hide, but it somehow always gets quite a few DPs from me and all my players.

I would have a 3 skill set for each profession, that way you can help new players pick the skills most usefull to their new PC.
