Force Wall (CoM)
« on: March 03, 2008, 08:37:28 AM »
I need some clarification:

Each segment of the force wall has a specific amount of hits.

#1 How does it work? Things coming from outside the wall have to destroy the segment first? (melee, distance, elemental spells, attack spells)

#2 And reverse? Is the caster able to cast through his own wall (attack/elemental spells)? Can the caster attack through his wall? Or must he destroy a segment first?

Hi!

#1 Yea, things coming from outside have to destroy the wall first. Though many attack spells are not physical things (jolts, confusion), so they would have no problem going through the wall. And those spells dont inflict HP damage. I would rule that acid/poison and HP-injury-attack spells (inflict wound) would have no effect on force wall. It obiously cannot be wounded or poisoned... :D

#2 It's wall. Same for everyone. If foes cannot strike through the wall, neither can the thaumaturge.
If any spell can be made into potion, how does fireball potion work when someone drinks it?:D

#1 ok. Only non harmful attack spells will pass. Non direct attack critical spells .. a mage can set a fire wall inside the wall and the thaumaturge can't flee?

#2 Thaumaturges only have arcane bolt/ball as attack spells, these are impossible to pass?!

Yes, using melee, ranged, elemental or other means of attack that deliver hits

It's a wall so soaks up damage both ways. Attack spells (as in RR spells) will go through both ways as the wall is translucent, so you can see your target.

Best wishes,
Nicholas

To "clarify" what Nicholas said, just think of them as very strong glass walls.

 ;)

Arcane bolts dont pass, as they are physical bolts of mana:)

I would assume that this is the case, yes.. Counterspell best option here?

Well, mage can make fire wall near the thaumaturge, but nit ON thaumaturge, so thaumaturge would be on no danger. As fire wall is utility, it automatically fails if someone is on target area. So as long as the thaumaturge doesn't move, he/she is safe from fire wall.
