IYO what type of genetic-engineered-races would be created for space exploration?

Highly radiation resistant, low oxygen(or other breathable gas) requirement, and able to withstand extreme temps and pressures.
A military solution isn't the only answer, just one of the better ones.

Enhanced visual spectra, specialized circulatory systems, super-efficient metabolisms (to reduce weight of supplies), radial symmetry (who needs to turn around!), circulatory systems designed to be independent to gravity.

Why even stay with the appearance of the parent race?  After a short while the 'spacer' race might tinker with themselves in an unauthorized manner and adapt themselves even further to their needs.

If bio chemistry was mastered, then bodies could be "programmed" to immitate all sorts of technologies.  Organic modems (i.e. direct interface with computer), data storage, changing skin color (from light to very dark or very dark to very light, no magical reds, oranges, etc since the color is produced by modifying the melanin in the skin);  all sorts of far out things.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

0g no need for feet mite as well have hands. Changing the metabolism to be liquid based making a blue-green alga diet indefinitely sustainable. As well as cutting down on food weight it is all renewable that way. Smaller over all size gets smaller ships.  Longer life for less time spent training replacements. No need for skin pigment if all the light is artificial but there would need to be a vitamin D replacement. Much faster thinking to quickly double check CPU for mistakes. If the ships were built in space with out resources from a world “all space parts” and water is very abounded then aquatic because hull breaches would be temporarily self sealing “water freezing”.
