Title: Inspirations
Post by: Terry K. Amthor on February 23, 2008, 07:12:03 PM
Hi kids, I am nearly done with Xa-ar, and I hope you all will like it.  But just as a side note, taking a break from writing I am watching the DVDs of the old BBC/Masterpiece theatre productions of I, Claudius and Henry VIII. Really nothing in fantasy can compare to the amazing intrigue, murder, sex and betrayal that formed the real history of our world. The Roman Empire and Tudor England both are a succession of chances that could have changed civilizaion as we know it in a major way if some small thing had gone differently.

And who knew Captain Picard was a Roman General!

And if we could get good translations, the court intrigue of China, Japan, India, and the other far east nations would be incredible resources for games or stories that included political aspects.
