Topic: 503 when trying to access ironcrown.co.uk

There have been reports about people having trouble to access the forum, like people suffering a 503 error when trying to access the forum. I am writing here to tell you it has probably not something to do with the forum. When the propblem happen it not just the forum that is down but the entire site give the same error so the problem is on the hosting level.

There must be some kind resource shortage that happen that makes the web server kill the PHP process. When that happens Apache deliver the reported error message to the user. What PHP script that cause the problem is impossible without access...but if I make an educated guess I would say Wordpress that runs the main site is a likely suspect. Buggy Wordpress extensions that break when too many people accessing the Wordpress site is a common problem on the Internet.

Someone from Ironcrown need to contact the hosting service and get answers what URL that is accessed when the site goes down and the php process start to glitch. Increasing the Ironcrown crew with more people with more IT-experience is perhaps needed?

As general tips of what to do...disabling wordpress exentions and check if it improve the stability of site might also be an idea. To check how much free space Ironcrown account has in case the problem is located to temporary files in some fashion is also probably a good idea.

I've been having issues for over a week now.  I've tried with/without VPN.  I've tried different web browsers.  I was hoping it was resolved, but i just had 503 error on two threads I was trying to access.

It was intermittent for me, but seems to be working now.

Most likely, swarms of bots make the calls that cause the PHP code to hang the server, so the relief now could be temporary. Taking the steps I suggested to track down what causes the 503 is probably a good idea.
