Dev point for spell lists question

Got a newbie Q, I am making a Magician - cost for spell list on skill sheet show 1/* , I want to dev multiple lvls at a time for the better chance on the SGR, what does the * mean please and thank you.

It means that you can develop as many levels as you want, and each level costs the same as the first one, i.e. 1 in this case.

Keep in mind that, for spell lists, there is a restriction in that you cannot learn a second spell list until the pick in the first list is guaranteed, i.e. until you've spent 20 DPs in the first list (to get a 100% chance of getting the pick).

I assume you are using RM2 or RMC (RMSS and later do not have x/* costs for spell lists because spell acquisition works differently - namely, you learn each spell individually instead of learning a bunch at a time).
