Hello

I'm preparing to start a RMU campaign, with my band of brothers. Im looking for suggestions on campaign modules/settings. I understand there is nothing really with RMU stats?

Im thinking either Shadow Word or a MERP thing.

I would want something with good artwork, maps and fleshed out adventures. We like a fair bit of hack n slash. I doesnt have to be a linear plot with an overarching goal - although that is fine as well. Can't be total sandbox that leaves everything to me/the GM.

I ran Land of Xa-ar way back and liked that. I assume Shadowworld material would be the easist to convert to RMU. Then again, the players are more familiar with Middle earth.

Suggestions?

There is a conversion guide for Shadow World to RMU https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/562285/shadow-world-rolemaster-unified-conversion-guide so with a bit of work Shadow World material is useful.

Myself I am borrowing quite a lot from Shadow World modules. Currently I am running a modified Gethaena Underearth Emer...but had to make some adjustments. The basic soldiers of the enemy in that module is too low level to seem scary. I raised their level a lot and reduce their number to give the players something to worry about.

I saw the conversion thing. Im sure that will come in handy.

Any recommendations on SW products, based on the preference for nice artwork, maps and ready adventures?

Thot

If you want a world that works well with the system and don't want to build your own, Shadow World ("Kulthea") is the way to go. By selecting the right continent for your desired mood, you can make any campaign work there.

But it's a lot more fun to build a world for yourself. Tools like Azgaar's Fantasy map generator (https://azgaar.github.io/Fantasy-Map-Generator/) help a lot with that.

I recently joined a Gods of the Forbidden North campaign using RMU.

Gods of the Forbidden North has some mixed reviews online but I have seen some recommendations from the RMU community on discord and it seems like it fits with your requirements.

RMU is too high magic for MERP imo.

I would recommend the newest and most detailed SW adventure: Tales from the Green Gryphon Inn. It's set next to ICE'd Haalkitaine, Tanara (Cloudlords of Tanara) and has ties to Xaar with the Earth wardens ruins. Even Norek is not far. I could recommend all 2ed material and you will find further adventurers in Jaiman 2ed in the area. I am working on a RMU stats addendum for Tales, but this will take some time...
You could listen to podcast discussions to every SW product in another thread of mine in this SW forum, if you are still unsure what to take first.

Nice Art is really very subjective. Many people use ai to generate art, if you don't like the original one from 2016. On the forum you will find links to the SW community, that have a server with lots of nice pics.
Have fun!
