Considering I made the proposal to have more moderators, I would also be willing to do my part as moderator if there is a shortage of people with time to do it.

Sorry everyone for not being able to keep up. Looks like someone is clearing spam though as I finally had a moment and clicked on the most recent report and it was already in the Recycle Bin... that's a positive.

I don't have more info though.

And I still wish we could just block new users from posting directly and force them to moderated that we can just delete all their spam and ban the account/email/IP address all at once.

Okay, I think I cleaned up a lot of them. Going to click through each forum and see if I missed any.

If folks can REPORT TO MODERATOR it makes it pretty easy for me to BAN the posted then go back to clicks and DELETE the actual SPAM message.

What a mess though.

Really wish we could start moderating new users so they can't post until we allow them to.

I will try and report more myself then.  It looks a lot cleaner.

One annoying thing is you can only report one spam every 90 seconds.  So it's slow to report them.

It might be me that is shifting some of the spam before you can get to it. I will try and make a point of visiting more often to get rid of spam. Hopefully it will die down soon.

Are there any interview questions that are asked when new members register? I've found that can do wonders for filtering out spam accounts, as long as they're actual I.C.E.-relevant questions that can be answered by a thinking person and not just gimmes like "what's twelve minus five?"

I'd be happy to come up with a list if there isn't one already.

Thanks, @colin-ice ...

Yes, anything we could do to help filter out the spam user account Registrations. I just banned 7 or 8 more and deleted corresponding single spam messages, one actually in English even.

I will say, I administer larger forum as well, not just moderate, and the questions are solved by genAI at this point. I'm assuming it is still paying the bills though simple ones like math questions might keep any spammers in low margin from being able to automatically register and post spam in th default forum number.

Best to just put New Users in a moderation queue for their first post and only allow them one post until it is reviewed and they are approved to post.

Can't believe this forum software doesn't have that buried in a setting somewhere. If I had admin access I would see what I could find.

I don't think i have the required permissions to implement this. I've RTFM and I can see how it should be done but I don't seem to have that access.
