Rolemaster / Re: Rolemaster Unified art: what happened?

It is unrealistic to expect Ironcrown to commission new covers for the books at this point. The most important priority must be to get all the books out to satisfy those customers who was interested enough in the books to buy them with the current covers.

Considering how long we can expect RMU to in print it seems likely there will be an updated version in future with errata items fixed and some of art replaced, but starting that process now in the hope of a few extra sales seem like madness.

The question remains: Will we get halfway decent art in future books?
That depends largely on what your opinion of 'decent' is. It won't be the same as other ICE customers (obviously from this thread alone).

Some updates on my progress:

I've recently found copies of Iron Crown Quarterly issues 9 and 11/12, so the only one I don't have is #5.

My updated list of dated product catalogs is as follows:

Spring 1987
Winter 1988/1989
Fall 1989
Summer 1990
Winter 1990
Winter 1991-92
1993 No. 1
1994 No. 2

If anyone has leads on or extras of anything not included here, please message me. Thanks

Whatever. The question remains: Will we get halfway decent art in future books?

What do you imagine is going to change? Do you suppose sales will go through the roof and increase the art budget?

I expect after the core books are out, companions will have black and white interior art.

Quoting an official statement by ICE this weekend regarding AI generated content in ICE products, after someone asked permission to create content with AI generated images for use with VTTs:

"Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'm afraid it is a no for now. We don't want our products to feature AI artwork in any form."

Whatever. The question remains: Will we get halfway decent art in future books?

Folk Culture Pack

Any character no matter race may have the cultural background of the Folk.
Other suitable culture packs of this people include all except:
Cosmopolitan, Mariner, Reaver, or Underground
Urban is a rarity given there are few towns and cities within the Lands of the Folk. There are plenty of villages, farmsteads, and isolated huts.

You grew up among the Folk listening to the stories told by the Crones of the Older Gods, and those who wandered East and North  in secret you have been taught to fight and resent the Host.
Some of your friends never returned from the Forests after being taken there at the age of 10 but you did, and brought back strengths but also nightmares always forgotten with the rise of the Sun.

Culture Ranks - the Folk
Perception 2 ranks
Maneuver in Armor 1 Rank
Body development 1 rank
Unarmed Combat 1 Rank
Melee weapon 1 rank
Missile Weapon 1 rank

Crafts (1-2 ranks each) 4 ranks
Navigation 1 rank

Philosophy / Religion 1 rank
Other Lores 4 ranks
Herbalism 2 ranks

Rolemaster / Re: The Forsaken: an Undead Race for Rolemaster (any edition)

They sound just like a type of free will undead, so I'd just slap an undead template on a base species (human?).

So, for RMU:
Attack:
Defense: Abomination (-20 DP) Regeneration, magical [1 H/ rnd, 10 min.] (30 DP) Proof, critical, no bleed (10 DP) Proof, critical, no stun (10 DP) Proof, critical, critical reduction I (10 DP)
Form: Body: dead flesh [1] (0 DP) Lifeless (5 DP) Breathing, no (20 DP) Distinct odor (-10 DP)
Miscellaneous: Type, undead III [III] (-3 DP) Mindless (-25 DP) Unsleeping (20 DP) Disturbing voice II [-20] (-20 DP)
Senses: Special: life sense II [10'R/ lvl] (20 DP) Dead sense deprivement (-30 DP)

Remove the Mindless, and it comes to requiring 42 DP, so basically it costs a level of development.

Ah thanks. I think that will help.

Having had time to live with it for a while now, I also like almost all of the RMU art. [...]

I wholeheartedly disagree. RMU's art is horrible for the purpose that it should serve, namely, to inspire people to play fantastic characters.

I don't know, 15DP is kind of cheap for double the recovery rate and reducing/eliminating the recovery effects of dead zones. Adding tap personal to one of the others is even cheaper for what is essentially a conditional application of greater eloquence worth 40DP for the benefits of casting time on spells less than 10pp and worth even more on higher pp spells.

Eliminating the recovery effects of dead zones is ribbon ability, unless such zones are common in your campaign worlds. 15DP is reasonable for double recovery, as it doesn't change the downtime of the party. everyone else needs 8 hours. Without a more tangible benefit no character would take it in my campaign setting.
