Combat companion

Trying to get some feed back from those of you who have used the rules. I briefly read over them and like what I've read. Haven't been able to play test them yet though. What do you guys think?

I suppose a magician might, he admitted, but a gentleman never could.

Looking over the book I have another question.

If you attack a super large creature you subtract 30 from both attack roll and crit roll. If that is right than how is one to kill a super large creature. Other than an unmodified die roll of a 100 nothing will kill it. Am I missing something?

IMO this is a question that has been around a while. And that is "Can you kill a large or super large creature by using hand to hand techniques?" From your quote I see that in the CC they provide a mod to SL creatures only so it seems that hand to hand can kill large creatures but not super large creatures.
So to answer your question IMO they would use weapon kata's and thier hand to hand would not be as effective as they would like.

On a side not I do find it funny trying to picture Qui Chnag Cane attacking a dinosaur with kicks and punchers. Maybe it is even a Will Ferall [sp] Land of the Lost move scene.

Doing enough damage to it will kill it as well.

The critical tables DO reduce the number of instances of "instant kills", yes. But that still leaves death through attrition which will take a while, but is still quite doable...

Thats to much DnDish for me. The crit tables are still no open ended also right? I really like how the book is set up I now have to convince the players.

Correct, the crit tables are not open-ended.

And I forgot to mention something else in my previous post -- crits CAN receive adjustments -- for example, for melee, there is a Killing Strike and the Sacrifice Strike Combat Moves -- both of which allow for modifying the critical roll (the amount based upon the ranks in the combat style)

Plus there is always Ambush, which also allows for modifying the critical roll. Not to mention, the GM could always hand out weapons that improve the critical... hehe)

So, while attacks against super-large creatures means that you will not kill them easily, You can still kill them with criticals through means that allow for adjusting the critical....

And don't forget, that while attacks against SL get -30, "E" crits also get a +20, which means that the max possible normally is a 110.  ;D

Are there any mods for holy or slaying weapons?

It is errata for the book. If you do a search, you can find where we discussed it here a while back.

I can understand not doing a re-print for something as small as that but to not update the dwnloadable PDF is a shame. :(

(New Holy & Slaying mod added to my tables Opps! I thought it was my PM for a minute there!)
