ACG
« on: December 28, 2009, 03:24:27 PM »
A LONG while ago, some people had stated that they use ACG for character gen.

I really like RCMS, but a few of my players still use ACG. I think the maker of the program has taken it down/no where to be found. If the program came with an email, for tech support or whatever, could this be posted so that I could try and contact the guy. My people don't seem to have current contact info but I know these boards... and the "phone tree" here is pretty extensive. :)

It will be a pain to enter everything in my chargen from their characters. Might be easier to buy the program; if I can find the guy.
I'm not asking for anything untoward, I'd be happy to pay him for his program.

I think the guy who wrote it passed away. His friend later reposted the program for free IIRC as a tribute to him.
I hope I have the wrong person or info and that you can find the person you are looking for.

mark, you are thinking of the HARP chargen software written by John Cardinale.

IIRC, Providence13 is talking about a software application that was either written for RM2, or that showed up very shortly after RMSS was first released.

It was for RMSS -- I found a copy of the install files on my other hard drive.

Another update:

It appears that the creator was named Micheal Seifert. I don't have any contact information for him.

I have ACG on my old laptop [I would love to move it to my main PC but I do not think I have the install files any more.]. I will check when I find it again after I move my stuff back in from having new carpet and paint put in the house.
I also wrote back and forth to him about some stuff and I will see if I can find any contact info that I might have saved in a file old that old PC. But it may take about a 1/2 day to start up so do not hold your breath.  ;D

That's great guys.
I didn't expect this much so soon.
It's more info than I had. :)

I'm not familiar with the chargen, but evidently it's extremely malleable.
Everything can be changed; but I don't know if it does a lot with the info. No bells and whistles.

RCMS is the cat's meow (imho), IF you can work with Access. The problem is that it has way too many tables that are all linked in.... Access ways. :)
I'm not that knowledgeable in Access... so I can only make it do so much.

Hence the need for something that will take any input (ACG), without having to change 20 tables; RCMS.
Thanks again.

I will have to see if it is ACG or RCMS that I am thinking of when I find my laptop.

There was also another one that was made for RM2 and enabled you to choose whether to use all the companions or only some of them, including such things a Oriental Companion. I think it got pulled because it offered too much copyrighted material. Is the any chance that that thing is still around and might make its way into I.C.E.'s offices. That one was VERY good as far as I remember. Really loved it.

RCMS can do that by checking boxes for the books you want to use.

If there's other programs available that people like, maybe we can spread the good word.
