Allo allo!
This may be a bit off of your usual track, Terry (and Rasyr, and the rest), but...
What about a RM2 "workbook"? This would be a set of intelligently crafted documents designed to make the pen-and-paper "recordkeeping" of RM2 easier -- tracking activities in the round, including combat, parrying, DB, and shield; tracking encumbrance and maneuver penalties; tracking damage and breakage to equipment; determining the difficulty and modifiers for a variety of common maneuvers; easy-to-use indexes and summaries of rules; and a section on integrating rules fluidly into play. This latter portion might include a number of examples, much as the ones found in the old RM2. Get feedback from this forum on what's needed, and use these suggestions to determine what people need to get the most out of RM2.
See, I love RM2 -- LOVE it. But I'm overwhelmed by all the rules and modifiers. Don't get me wrong. I adore the complexity, and want to become fluent enough to use it as it was intended -- to create a realistic and compelling world. But diving back in at age 40, and with 4 kids and 2 businesses to manage, I need time-savers.
Terry, I'm not alone.
The product could come with a limited license to reproduce the documents for personal use, and perhaps even a CD-ROM with PDFs. And you could sell the PDFs individually for those who want to "pick and choose".
It would also be great to read about the techniques of a top-rate RM Gamemaster in his own words -- both the imaginitive and the technical.
Come on, guys. You have a BRILLIANT system. Make it more accessible to those of us who REALLY want to follow you in.
Thanks!
