Gold conversion from dnd to Rolemaster
« on: September 10, 2013, 10:55:29 PM »
Has anyone done a conversion from dnd to Rolemaster on gold?  Item prices to treasure amounts.  I am running an Eberron campaign but I am using Rolemaster prices.  I like the Rolemaster system where a gold piece has value.

Tinimir,
 Welcome to the ICE Forums.

I like Defendi's solution in that you simply reduce the value of D&D gold to that of a bronze piece.

How to go about this without an all-knowing-forum?

Look at some standard items: longsword, longbow, mail hauberk, shield, piton, flint and steel, backpack. compare prices and average those prices and make it settle on the nearest whole "piece" or not if you are a stickler for details.

I have usually found that DnD overvalues the gold piece by 10 to 20 times what it is in Rolemaster.

I no longer have my DnD books (sold them), but IIRC, a long sword in Rolemaster is about 5gp where the same thing in DnD was about 50gp.

The one thing I always loved about RM was that it was based on the silver piece instead of the gold piece as it should be.

Thanks for the responses.  I was looking for an easy formula or something quick.  I like the bronze piece idea I will use that in the future.
