SM2 Star Strike Design Example Question(s)

SM2 Star Strike Stock # 9020, 1st US ed 1989, ISBN 1-55806-060-X

SM2 Star Strike, pp. 65 - 69 and pp. 70 - 74, uses the 4,500 ton Ardent Sloor to step you through the design process, which I'm glad to say matched all the numbers listed. Okay, I had some numbers that didn't match through my own math errors.

The actual construction steps are found on pp. 65 - 69. Page 69 states

Quote
Before we ship out on the Sloor we'll need to by Mk. 10 Autocannon ammunition, Mk. 6 missiles, two Mk. 20 payloads of some sort, and we should stock our workshop with parts. All this is called "loading up". Also, we still have to buy our computer programs. We'll buy our computer programs in the example at the end of the next section of rules.

Unloaded, that's 11.430,200 Elmonits

Purchasing the computer programs are detailed on pp. 70 -74. On p. 74 you find the programs increases the unloaded cost to 14,184,200 Elmonits.

Wouldn't purchasing the programs be considered part of the loading up calculation?

Was there any attempt to calculate the Loaded cost for the Ardent Sloor?

IMHO you could have it a sub part, ie load weapons, load payload pallets, load workshop, load computer and load cargo.

Hi MarkC,

In the spreadsheet I did I have the costs added during the weapon selection process. I also incorporated the Step 11 HUD into each weapon step.
