Question about the Arcane list Light Manipulation
« on: January 27, 2011, 04:50:39 AM »
Hello!
The level 9 spell on this list has two names.
In the description it is called Sudden light with a radius of 10'.
On the side, where the stat and range is, it is called Sudden light V and has a radius of 50'.

What makes most sence?

IMHO, the authors were trying for a more powerful Sudden Light and just made it a Sudden Light V with the 50' radius.
This would be where the Sudden Light goes on the List; Light Molding 4th lvl, Light Law 5th lvl, Light's Way 5th lvl.
But since it is Arcane, it is scaled up to a "V" and given 50' rad.
Just an opinion.

Hubbaman;
I have to agree with providence13 on this one. I think they copied and pasted the info from another list and it did not get weeded out in the editing process.

Make it a 10 to 50 foot radius.  Players like options.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

Arcane Companion had an editing process?

This sounds like actual errata, anyone disagree with the below:

P 65 "Light Manipulation"

The 9th level spell "Sudden Light V" has an Area of Effect of 50'r per the table, not 10'r per the spell description prose.

Going twice? If no objections, I'll move it on to the errata.

I think the errata make sense. The Arcane version is oddly weak compared to other versions of the spell. Making it apply to a massive area makes it more reasonable.
