Bows are non very suited for close combat, as underlined by Arms Law, but occasionally you could be caught unaware and be near an opponent with your bow in hand. How do you handle an attacker that wants to hit specifically the bow of a PG (or NPG) in order to break it?
It's an encumbrant object, it's not like aiming to the heart, so I would say that's a legitimate action and maybe not a particullary difficult one, but I can't find a ruling for this.

I would have the attacker make their attack. If they score a critical against AT1 then the bow would have to make a breakage check with mods based upon the severity of the critical.

Interesting view. So basically you would treat the bow as an entirely different opponent with no armour or it would have access to the wielder DB?

The defenders DB as it would be the defender trying to yank it out of the way or dodge the attack. It would also be inside the defenders essence aura so protective magics protecting the defender would also protect the bow. The only thing that I would exclude is armour as the bow is definitely outside the armour.

What would you do if the attack just did hits damage? I might require a breakage check even for that: a bow isn't really made for deflecting a blow from a broadsword, much less a battle axe.

I agree, the simple fact that the attack doesn't fail implies the breakage risk.

excuse my english
i put this kind of action like "super heroes action" or "cloack and sword" action
don t forget round is 6 seconds or 10 seconds and the two move and dodge even if you don t dice rule that
static action maneuvers attacker vs defender (mini -50 -60) (give malus bonus in relation with the roleplay?) give a lot of explanation of risk for your player like if you fail it s automatic wound or fumble etc..
make a sort of grab action if succeed (minimul level of success succes critical A normal weapon, +5 B +10 C +15 D +20 need E critical)
after perhaps RR level of attacker against lvl of bow's material? (normal lvl 5 item ... lvl 25 enchanted wood)?
any rules not so easy

I agree, the simple fact that the attack doesn't fail implies the breakage risk.
I would say that hits but no critical probably hit the hand, arm or shoulder (for example) rather than the bow.
