Ball Attacks
« on: September 05, 2007, 02:37:26 PM »
So, being a newby GM to HARP, I have a question concerning Ball Spells.

Are you targeting a "hex" with the ball?  Is that why there is a "if the ball is targetted at an individual add +20 to their crit" blurb in the description.  If so, how do you traget a hext & what DB is applicable?

Not so much targeting a hex, as just picking a spot for it to explode.

Physical locations do NOT have DB.

And any character caught in a blast from such DO gain their DB against the ball spell as per normal.

OK

But, if the ball is targeted at someone then an additional +20 is added to the critical roll?  Meaning a successfull attack of 21 would be a 41 vs the target & 21 vs all others.

by the way: some ball attacks does not have that on the description. Namely Holy Ball for example.

Probably a typo.

Thats how I would play it, based on the description for both Elemental Ball and Acid Ball.

I would even say that the +20 also is applied to the damage cap, so would negate the -20 if the ball maxed at a tiny crit at the one person who was targeted, but would still apply to the targets.

Too bad ML doesn't have the "Holy" attack table... I guess it is in H&S due to the specific Cleric spells contained therein...

RWW,

Now there is a thought.  We need the Holy, Magic, and Slaying Attack Tables from H&S converted to ML crit tables.  I wonder if Rasyr or anyone else has them done up already?   ;)

Rasyr?

Oh!! Get Nick to do it! Wasn't he saying that he was just DYING to do more critical charts the other day?  ;D

Indeed.

It looks like an old samurai movie: everyone is disabled after a couple of rounds.

Underestandable.

In my next game I plan to use an ajustment to everyone?s DB becuse I realises we do not use the lowar part of the tables (hits only), and no one never misses (unless heavy penalized).
