Battlemaster Adventure - Flamewatch Keep
« on: August 27, 2007, 09:37:10 AM »
There shouldn't be any spoilers in this, but it may be best for people who will be playing in this adventure to read no further :)

A question to the authors, or perhaps the playtesters, if any of them are on these boards. I ran my group through this adventure last session (with some slight modifications), as a way of testing out the Battlemaster rules. I notice that both the Corporal and the Captain have the Skill Specialisation talent with a weapon, however its not with the weapon that they're actually using. The Corporal has Skill Specialisation with Short Sword, but his primary melee weapon is a spear, and the Captain has Skill Specialisation with Long Sword, but his primary weapon is a battle axe.

So, was this a deliberate thing, or perhaps just an error that got through playtesting and proofreading?

Arrg!!! No, that was Word reverting back on changes that had been made.

The Specialization is supposed to be with the weapons used. I had changed it in the manuscript, but apparently Word put it back (this is not the first time such things have happened).

So for Hawkwind, or anyone else who has the Flamewatch Keep adventure, what did you think?  Good adventure?  Good for starting players?  Is it all combat focused, or is there any good mysteries to solve, or secrets to uncover?

Its not set for starting players, its set for character levels 3-5, and its pretty much just a combat scenario - which is hardly surprising, as its designed to illustrate how the Battlemaster rules work. If you're not planning on using the Battlemaster miniatures rules, then its certainly not worth buying them just for the Flamewatch Keep adventure. But if you are planning on using them, then its a good adventure to illustrate how they work.
