Trying to make a Roll20 character sheet for RM2/RMC
« on: October 19, 2020, 10:38:01 AM »
Hi people,

I try actually to sent to Roll20 a character sheet for RM2/RMC who is light to be used with near all the options of RM2/RMC. So I keep the auto-calculations low, and don't fix the skill list.

There is 4 pages:
- Character (with attributes, armor informations, wounds, skills and resistances)
- Equipment (separate equipment and possession lists)
- Magic (each spell can be added into a spell list, and the spell list can be expanded to see all the spells inside)
- Background (with background, relatives and notes)

Actually it's difficult because there is already an other RM2 sheet, but this sheet is no useful for me because I want to be free to use the rules and options I want, not the rules of the GM who created the sheet). I hope Roll20 will accept.

Crossing fingers !

I really like your sheet. I like the way you've used a coloured background; it helps to make the white information boxes stand out. It also seems quite elegant in design.

Let us know what Roll20 says!
'Last of all, Húrin stood alone. Then he cast aside his shield, and wielded an axe two-handed'. --J.R.R. Tolkien

'Every party needs at least one insane person.'  --Aspen of the Jade Isle

Thank you very much!

Roll20 are quick to answer and after some explanations about Rolemaster version, they said YES :)
I need to fix some <table> abuse (I've used table for "table" headers, but not for storing data, so I need to replace them by divs).

After the initial release, I will add a page option for colors, calculation rules (for example having the choice for professional bonuses calculation by level or fixed) and the like.

My ultimate goal is to have a RM2/RMC sheet who can handle the most optional rules :)

Beautiful work.  It took me a few moments of reading the other skills to realize it was in French. :)  Very impressive sheet.  I agree, the color and background look fantastic.

Yes, and I love the way the French editions translate 'Channeling': 'Theurgie', like the English Theurgy, which is literally 'god-working' or 'god-invoking'.

Just to remind you. There is a RM2 sheet that roll20 team accepted to the rolemaster sheet list.
We are still working on it now and again :)

I've tried to use your sheet but it's too much tabs and informations for my basic use, and the skill bonus doesn't work as the base rules ; I need a lighter base sheet with less auto-calculations for being used with the more RM2/RMC options. So I take a completely different approach for my sheet :)

Think of my sheet as a simple and basic sheet, adaptable to many play styles. You're sheet appear to be nicely automatized and very complete and I hope you will continue that way :)

Cool, I look forward to checking it out. I will point it out to the gm of my MERP game - he plans on changing to RM once we hit 10th level.

I try actually to sent to Roll20 a character sheet for RM2/RMC who is light to be used with near all the options of RM2/RMC.

can you implement a switch between:

* Classic Development Points (Standard Method)
* All Stat Development Points (RoCo#5, Ch 5.2, pg 21)
* Fixed Development Points (Homebrew)

these are the variants i have encountered so far in real life.

some also prefer PP calculation based on stat bonus (RoCo#6, Ch 5.8, pg 31)

thx

The sheet is in french and English actually (the PC in the screenshot is a French PC on a English version of the sheet).

For the dev points, it's a good idea, I will definitely do that :)
For information, I don't calculate the secondary skill dev point bonus, because there is no standard rules for this.

i have seen in the past, if either the (2) or the (3) options to calculate DP are in use, that also covers the (implied) DP for secondary skills.

A couple of things you may want to look at:
1) Ability to print off or have page of only skills
2) Page of only weapons and or spell attacks

Why? In the past I have had a few players ask for such and find it easier to play the game if they had info in such a way.

The ability to print these sheets is not something that can be done in the Roll20 sheet itself. That would be done using the print capabilities of the browser in which the game is running. I have never tried printing off a character sheet so I have no idea how well it would work.

Good work on the sheet. It is clean and tight. Hopefully converting the tables to divs doesn't have too big of an impact on the layout.

Thanks for the info as I do not use the service.

But in general I ask players to try and have a hard copy as well as a ecopy when gaming in person incase "strange things" occur. ie computer crash, power outage (ie back to play by candle light or flash light), net issues, etc.

That is good idea. I play solely online so it isn't an option for my groups. If tech problems occur, it will end the session. It hasn't happened yet, but I know it will at some point.
